Process plant asset information management
A variant of PDM is 'Asset Information Management' (or AIM) which concentrates more on the management of existing assets rather than products in development.
The AIM concept was pioneered by the oil & gas industry, using PDM systems to manage information and documents about complex process plants such as off-shore rigs and large refineries. The assets involved are multi-billion dollar investments, which are usually designed and constructed by contractors or EPCs. AIM is intended to capture all the design and construction information in a structured form ready for handover to the owner- operators who continue to manage the data as the plant is run.
Standards have been developed for sharing and exchanging Asset Information - ISO15926 & ISO10303-221. Eurostep has in-depth practical knowledge of these standards and the systems which support them. We work with our customers to: Although the technology has been pioneered in the oil and gas industry, it is being adopted by other industries - chemical, nuclear, rail networks etc. - where there are complex, expensive assets to maintain and manage.
