Do you want to exchange product and support data with customers and suppliers, between different systems, and are looking for a solution? Do you have multiple systems for product data, which do not communicate well?
The DEX & RDL training is intended for those who know about the PLCS standard and wish to have a deeper understanding of how to make the exchange work, and how to prepare for data exchange using PLCS. It focuses on DEX and RDL, which are fundamental parts of the usage of PLCS. It gives an in-depth understanding of how DEX and RDL interacts with the PLCS model, how they are intended to be used, and up-to-date reports from the ongoing work of developing these. Previous understanding of the PLCS model is an advantage, but not necessary.
The PLCS Project
The international Product Life Cycle Support (PLCS) project, sponsored by leading international organisations and Government departments, has delivered AP239 - a significant new extension to the ISO STEP standard (ISO 10303). AP239 is the internationally agreed information exchange standard for product support and is re-shaping IT integration across the product support domain. Eurostep personnel lead the development of PLCS and are uniquely placed to present PLCS and AP239.
Course content
This training course helps IT managers, system architects and system developers, product support engineers and STEP practitioners to ready themselves to exploit and implement PLCS using DEX and RDL. The course includes:
• Overview of the PLCS standard
• Data Exchange Sets (DEX) architecture, templates and capabilities
• The Reference Data Libraries (RDL): concepts, and technical solutions
• Development of a Business DEX
• Ongoing work with DEXs and RDL
Exercises are a vital part of the training.
What you will learn from attending
The DEX & RDL training is developed for people who are going to build their own DEXs. After this course, you will understand how you develop business DEXs and Templates in detail, and you will have seen all the different tools used in the DEXlib development. A good and experienced modeler or programmer will after this course be able to start with such a development and will have a good chance of getting it right. And you will have an understanding of what type of help you would need in that work depending on what type of resources you don’t have yourself.
