CIMdata review of Share-A-space
Engineering Change Management Collaboration Hub
“CIMdata is impressed with what Eurostep has done and it is encouraged to see a number of excellent real world Share-A-space implementation examples. There is no doubt that Share-A-space holds the keys to a number of different and difficult extended enterprise information integration, consolidation, and exchange issues. Many of which center around the clear need to provide consolidation and configuration control that enable audit and persistent configuration management capabilities across business domains.” CIMdata, October 2007

The ECM Collaboration Hub is based on STEP and PLCS, global standards addressing exchange and sharing of product data. Key concepts are built into our solution allowing a network of software applications and organisations to share engineering change data. This includes the concepts of allowing multiple identifiers, notification services, ownership of information etc. A requirement for a cost efficient global change management system is that in-house IT systems and processes can be kept in order to avoid switching cost, re-training and endless discussions about what could be the best solution. Eurostep’s solution drastically reduces time for implementation since all partners can use what they have.

Global Engineering Change Management Issues and Opportunities

  • Keeping time spent on information management to a minimum

  • Allowing for existing software to be used

  • Allowing for existing in-house processes to be kept

  • Designing a collaboration solution that is agile

  • Have build in security and an open architecture to add security components

  • High level of automation with import and export to the shared data environment

  • Manage CAD and other data in native formats, standard formats, light weight formats etc
