Introduction to PLM

Product Life Cycle Management (PLM) grew out of the need for Product Data Management (PDM) and CAD/CAM solutions. Today, PLM addresses not only these areas, but spans from the concept phase and requirements gathering to the disposal of the product. PLM is about secure sharing of information within, and between, organization boundaries over the product’s entire life cycle. It concerns all the intellectual properties and processes employed to bring a product to market and support its usage, and the management of products as “corporate assets”, reducing cost of ownership and increasing availability and up-time. The strategic importance of PLM has recently been accentuated, and it is now recognized as a business critical factor by world leading companies.

The training “Introduction to PLM” intends to answer questions such as: What solutions are available? How to best select and exploit PLM-solutions?

To answer these questions, an overview of the concept of PLM and the benefits of implementing it in an organization are presented. The latter includes increased efficiency, reduced costs and improved power of innovation - factors strengthening an organization’s competitive edge.

This 2-day training is well suited for business and IT managers who need to understand and plan their PLM usage, but anyone wanting to gain an overview of PLM will benefit from attending. The different elements of the training are continuously illustrated with examples from realized implementations.
