Data Exchange Sets (DEX) &
Reference Data Libraries (RDL)
- concepts and usage

Are you wondering how to apply PLCS in your business? How to map your existing systems to a PLCS exchange of product data? Or how to react to requirements for PLCS deliveries with minimal changes in your daily operation?

Or, do you want to exchange product and support data with customers and suppliers, between different systems, and are looking for a solution? Do you have multiple systems for product data, which do not communicate well?

This course is intended for those, who know about the PLCS standard and wish to have a deeper understanding of how to make the exchange work, and how to prepare for data exchange using PLCS. It focuses on DEX and RDL, which are fundamental parts of the usage of PLCS. It gives an in-depth understanding of how DEX and RDL interacts with the PLCS model, how they are intended to be used, and up-to-date reports from the ongoing work of developing these. Previous understanding of the PLCS model is an advantage, but not necessary.

The PLCS Project

The international Product Life Cycle Support (PLCS) project, sponsored by leading international organisations and Government departments, has delivered AP239 - a significant new extension to the ISO STEP standard (ISO 10303). AP239 is the internationally agreed information exchange standard for product support and is re-shaping IT integration across the product support domain. Eurostep personnel lead the development of PLCS and are uniquely placed to present PLCS and AP239.
