The defence industry has changed over the last couple of years and become more global, open and competitive. As the cost and complexity of equipment increase, BAE Systems Hägglunds needed to work more closely with partners and suppliers to deliver more cost-effective solutions and to respond faster to customer demands.
The new situation posed new challenges. As individual vehicles are maintained by local service partners, information about the physical configuration needed to be up-to-date for service, maintenance and warranty claims. It was vital to easily share information with partner organisations to eliminate potential delays in projects.
The solution, based on Eurostep’s ShareAspace PLM Collaboration platform, offers a common information hub. Product designers, manufacturing and product support engineers across organizations can use ShareAspace to share engineering information securely. The solution accelerates the process of implementing configuration.
“We needed to find a more efficient solution than simply sending changes on CD-ROM through the postal service” Roger Ljung, IT Strategy Manager at BAE Systems Hägglunds.
